Alex Vinatzer
Successful athlete in the Alpine Ski World Cup
Alex Vinatzer, son of the house, attended the Ski High School in Stams and competes for the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Gialle. At 16, he took part in his first FIS races in the USA. In January 2017 he made his European Cup debut and a few weeks later took part in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Erzurum. He won gold in both the giant slalom and slalom – in the latter with an impressive lead of 3.42 seconds. At the end of the season, he competed in four races at the Junior World Championships in Åre, narrowly missing a medal with 4th place in slalom.
Since then, Alex has continually made his mark on the international stage: in 2019 he secured bronze in the team event at the World Championships in Åre, in 2020 he claimed his first World Cup podium with 3rd place in Madonna di Campiglio. At the 2023 Ski World Championships in Courchevel/Méribel, he crowned his progress with bronze in slalom. In 2025 followed an outstanding 2nd place in the Kitzbühel slalom and the gold medal in the team parallel race at the World Championships in Saalbach – milestones in a still young, promising career.
