From December 2 till January 8, you'll find a magical Christmas winter wonderland in the heart of Wolkenstein: 12 little gondolas made of wood, market stands offering traditional local handicrafts, hand-made Christmas tree ornaments, lots of delicious specialties, and a nativity scene. The Gröden / Gardena Valley is world-famous for its wood-carving artistry and especially for its authentic nativity scene carving. In the context of "Mountain Christmas," Gardena Art will be presenting a large number of artistic nativity scenes. And you can sip a glass of delicious hot spice wine or fruity punch while you admire them.
Numerous events – e.g., the Festival of St. Nicolaus with musical program, Christmas melodies by the Wolkenstein Citizens' Brass Band, and a snow sculpture competition – round out the experience.
"Nadel da mont" – That's how this unique Mountain Christmas Market is called in Gröden / Gardena. And truly, the Christmas Market transforms the village of Wolkenstein into a fairytale kingdom.
This event is part of the "Gröden / Gardena – The Christmas Valley of the Dolomites" initiative. Together with the Christmas markets organized by the neighboring villages – "Magic Town St. Christina" and "St. Ulrich – The Christmas Village" – "Mountain Christmas Wolkenstein" represents a real highlight of the Advent and Christmas season that mustn't be missed!
